The Law of Attraction: Removing Blocks & Obstacles

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

As a quick recap, the Law of Attraction states that you will “attract” into your life the things, people and circumstance that you are most in harmony with.

The misunderstanding that many people have when beginning to use the LOA is trying to THINK of what they want and expecting it to come into your life. But that isn’t how it works.

Thinking is only One part of who we Are. We are also made up of Emotions. Thinking covers the Mind. But most people forget about the Emotions.

More specifically, it’s the limiting Beliefs, Fears and Aversions that keep us OUT of Harmony with what we want (so we don’t get what we want) more than anything else.

Let’s say that you decide that you want a new car. You put up pictures of the Red BMW M6 Convertible that you’ve seen in magazines. Now you sit back and wait for the LOA to do it’s thing.

But what happens for many people is the little voice inside says, “Who are you kidding? You can’t even afford a new Hyundai! What makes you think you can have a new BMW, let alone that model?

Those are the blocks and obstacles that get in the way and keep your desires from ever manifesting. And it’s those thoughts that we’re really in harmony with. And until we bring ourselves into harmony with the BMW, it will always be just another unfulfilled desire.

Now the good news!

You can bring yourself into harmony with virtually anything you want, and willing to work for. But the hard work is often from the inside out. It entails facing those voices, the fears and the limiting beliefs and removing them from your Being, one by one.

This is what I do with my clients every day. Sure we work on Action Items, but mostly we work on getting stuff out of the way. And you can too.

Just by becoming conscious of the thoughts and feelings that come up when you think about your desires is enough to start facing the fears and releasing them. It’s not easy, but it is worth it.

In my teleconferences and classes I’ll often do experiential exercises to help people become aware of their own blocks and self-imposed limitations. People are often surprised at the own thoughts, feelings and limiting beliefs that come up during these simple exercises.

To learn how to do this for yourself, I invite you to either contact me or join me in my on-going teleconferences. For full details see the Teleconference webpage.

Wishing you all the Best that you can be,

Patrick

More Vision Statements

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

In a previous newsletter I raved about the multi-media Vision Statement that I had created for myself and encouraged others to do as well.  But one of the complaints that I received was that many people couldn’t understand How to build them.

If you haven’t yet built yours because of “technical difficulties“, I’m about to share something I found to really help you to easily make your own.

What are Vision Statements?
As a quick recap in case you missed that issue,
Vision Statements are created using pictures that you download from the Internet.

The best part is that you can then combine these pictures with your favorite music and
the result is your own Personalized Motivational Multi-Media Vision Statement.

It’s like having a personalized commercial all about you, just for you!

It’s been awesome hearing about some of you that have already created your own Vision Statements.

Probably the Best thing that I learned from building my own Statement is what I Don’t want.  Yep, odd but true.  The more that I put in pictures and revised my Statement, the more I realized what I didn’t want.  This in turn helps me to focus more on what I DO want.  Way cool, huh?

I’m actually still revising my own Statement, but with each revision it becomes more and more compelling.  I still watch it because it motivates me and inspires me each time I watch it.

Mind Movies
Now here’s the good part.  If you’ve had challenges with the “How To” I found something that will completely change that.

Ryan and Nathalie Higgins have put together a series of Awesome online Video Tutorials that will walk you step by step from how to think about what you want, download all the software that you need (except for Microsoft PowerPoint) and show you where to find pictures to use in your presentations.

As many of you know, I’m passionate about these Vision Statements so I wanted to first check out any program that I could recommend to my subscribers and clients.  I’m excited to say that Ryan and Nathalie have done an awesome job and I can recommend their program highly.

They even show you how to use each software VERY step by step.

For anyone that still needs help building your own Vision Statement, or if you just want to see some examples of Vision Statements and what they are, I invite you to visit, Mind-Movies.com

And let me know when you’ve created Your Vision Statement!  I look forward to hearing about the results that you get in your life.

Creating Your Vision

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

If we’re ever going to manifest what we want in life, first we’ll have to decide on what it is that we want. Sounds simple, huh?

“Dreamboards” are a great way to get a visual idea of what we want.

The concept of making DreamBoards has been around for a long time. The basic idea is to cut out several pictures of things or experiences that you want from magazines and paste them onto a big cardboard sheet.

After hanging your Dreamboard on a wall your subconscious mind will start to program you to bring those things and experiences into your life.

The most awesome part about creating these boards is that it’s Fun to do!

While you’re having fun creating your board, you’re also creating a VISION for what you want your life to be.

(Note, in the INSPIRATIONS section of this newsletter, I’ll be introducing you to Malcolm Cohan and his Vision Statement programs.)

So how about making some time this week to download some pictures, or cut up some old magazines to start building your own Dreamboard or Vision Statement?

I know that you’ll have a great time doing it, and if you’re like me, you’ll probably find out some interesting things about what you thought you wanted along the way.

So whether you’re building a Dreamboard, or a Vision Statement, I look forward to hearing about your amazing results, and I invite you to send me a copy of your Vision Statement!

When You’ve Done Goal Setting, and Now Your Stuck…

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

Let’s face it, anyone that’s ever set any worthwhile goal has had this happen at least once.

What this is really talking about is taking action, or lack thereof. You’ve set a goal, and it’s something that’s important to you or you would never have set it in the first place, but you find yourself not taking action. You may procrastinate, something else comes up, etc. The individual actions to accomplish the goal always seem to take a lower priority in the moment. So how do we move past that stuck-state and start taking action?

We’re going to talk about two ways to get yourself to take action on your goals when you’ve found that you’re stuck. The first way to get yourself moving is to, Make the Reward Outweigh the Action.

When Setting Goals, Set the Reward

Let’s say that your goal is to loose weight. Let’s also say that you’ve decided to loose 30 pounds by the end of 6 months. You’ve made a realistic goal with a deadline. To accomplish this goal you will need to take actions, AND there are some actions and habits that you will need to drop. Action to do; exercise. Action to drop; snacking on cupcakes. Simple stuff, huh?

When you start this goal, the actions will probably be out of your immediate comfort-zone. The key is to make the reward bigger than the actions necessary to accomplish the goal. Maybe a two-week trip to Hawaii is not a financial option at this time, how about making the commitment that you will take a four-day weekend to go to a local beach and wear a swimsuit? Preplan the entire four days, complete with what clothes you will wear and activities you will do. Or, it can be as simple as scheduling professional pictures 6 months in advance. This will mark the accomplishment of the goal, and a reminder of what can be accomplished with goals. Remember that the details of the reward must outweigh the effort of the actions necessary to achieve the goal.

Underlying Issues: What’s Stopping Me?

A different approach is to find the underlying reason for the procrastination. This is a bit harder to do on your own and that’s why it often helps to have someone to help with this part, such as a Coach, therapist, etc.

By finding, and releasing, the underlying pain of the procrastination (or, self-sabotage) taking the action becomes as simple as any other action in the day, such as brushing your teeth or taking a shower. That doesn’t mean that it becomes any easier, but that there no longer is the mental and emotional drama associated to taking the action.

Doing the action will then be like going to the grocery store. It may not be the greatest thing to do on Saturday night, but it’s something that needs to get done and you go when you need groceries. That’s the beauty of removing the underlying issues with anything; it becomes “no big deal”. Also, by removing the underlying issues, you’re then free to make new goals without the issue popping up and getting in the way again and again.

So the next time you find yourself stuck and not taking action towards your goals, try one these two methods. Set a well-planned reward at the end of your goal. Or pickup the phone and schedule a Trial Coaching Session.

Remember that the key to keeping in action is to keep it simple.

Wishing you all the best,

Patrick

Getting Started on Blogging

Friday, January 26th, 2007

I decided to start blogging because it might be an interesting way for people to get to know more about me and what I do without having to sign up for my newsletters.

I love the Theme of Getting Started. It’s more than just a tag line for me, it’s where I come alive. I love it when I’m working with someone that has a real Burning Desire, or a knowing that they want something, but he/she is plagued by procrastination or just not knowing how to get started. This is where I come alive!

My corporate background as a Senior Technology Project Manager taught me how to think in terms of “projects”. This came so naturally to me that my entire life seemed to be small, managable projects. My specialty in the corporate environment became starting new projects and re-starting stalled projects. I became skilled at asking the right questions and structuring a project in a way that made it achievable in incremental phases.

Now, as a Life Coach, I’m always looking for the Incremental Path. Together with my clients, we look for achievable Phases on our way to the ultimate goal. This makes Goal Setting and Actions simple and straightforward. With this step alone, many people have felt a renewed sense of possibility in achieving their desires.
